Katarina Witt started to ice skate as early as age five years old. When her talent for skating was more evident and she was accepted at a Karl-Marx-Stadt school that specializes in youngsters with sporting talent. There she had a conversation with the trainer Jutta M ller. Witt was able to make her mark by finishing second at the 1982 World Championships, held in Copenhagen. Her graceful style and elegance of Witt captured the eyes of all and she has dominated her sport ever since.
